VOB Discrepancy Alerts: What They Mean and How to Update

 How to update a discrepancy

  1. Open the VOB and review the discrepancy in the request information section.
  1. Decide which value is correct. Compare against the patient's insurance card or other source, since the payer's value may be right or the one you entered may be.
  1. If the payer's value is correct, click Update beneath the discrepancy.
  1. A confirmation message appears and the VOB field now shows the updated value.

What Update does and doesn't do

  • It does change the value stored on the VOB.
  • It does not run a new verification.
  • It does not add an entry to VOB History.

To check the updated information with the payer, click Re-Verify. The corrected value is sent in the new request. The earlier result remains in VOB History with the discrepancy it originally had.

If you believe your entry was correct

Don't click Update. Confirm the details with the patient or their insurance card. If you still think the payer's response is wrong, contact Support with the VOB reference ID.
