Re-Verifying a VOB and Using VOB History
If a verification needs a correction, or you want a fresh answer from the payer, you can edit the VOB and run it again. Earlier results are kept so you can always look back.
When to use Edit and Re-Verify
The New Verification window doesn't include every field. After a VOB is returned, use Edit to:
- Change the subscriber relationship (new verifications default to Self)
- Try a different payer
- Correct the member ID
- Fix the spelling of the first or last name
- Correct the date of birth
- Update other demographic or insurance fields available in the edit window
You might also re-verify if the first attempt came back Unavailable, or after you used Update on a discrepancy alert (see VOB Discrepancy Alerts).
How to re-verify
- Open the VOB.
- Click Edit.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save and Verify.
This sends a brand new verification to the payer. It is not just a display update.
What happens to your results
- The VOB page shows the newest result.
- The previous result is saved in VOB History, in full, not just a summary.
- Each re-verification gets its own internal reference ID.
Using VOB History
- Open the VOB.
- Click the VOB History tab.
- Select an earlier result to review what the payer returned at that time.
History is helpful when you want to:
- Compare results before and after a correction
- See what a previous check returned if the newest one is different or Unavailable
- Keep a record of how coverage was verified over time
A historical result keeps the information it had when it was run, including any discrepancy alerts shown at that time.

Tips
- Change one thing at a time when troubleshooting, so you can tell which correction made the difference.
- If a payer still returns Unavailable after you've confirmed the details, contact Support and include the reference ID from the VOB's System Information section.
